Africa holds 25% of the global disease burden with 16% of the world's population and the most genetically diverse biological data on earth. That data is the raw material for drug discovery, diagnostics, and surveillance systems no other dataset can replicate.

Africa has 1.4 billion people and less than 1% of global AI compute. Its 2,000+ languages are almost entirely undigitized. African researchers are producing the language models and edge hardware the global market needs without infrastructure to match.

Africa holds 60% of the world's best solar zones, 70% of global cobalt, and the largest green hydrogen potential of any region. Almost all of it leaves as raw commodity and returns as finished technology at 10 to 20 times the price.

Africa's minerals exit as ore. They return as batteries, catalysts, and electronics at 10 to 20 times the price. The engineering research to capture that value chain exists inside African institutions: none of it commercialized at scale.

CGIAR has invested over $10 billion in African agricultural research over 50 years. Almost none of it commercialized. Africa holds 60% of the world's uncultivated arable land and crop genetics the rest of the world will need as agricultural zones shift.
